New Special Election Exhibit Now On Display!

85 years ago, Colorado residents were voting to repeal Prohibition in this Special Election. After the votes were cast and counted, ratification was set in motion to end the dry times in Colorado.

Prohibition went into effect in 1915, but by 1930 it was clear that Coloradoan’s opinion of Prohibition was shifting. People were realizing that prohibiting liquor was costing jobs and tax revenues. The 1933 election ratified the repeal amendment.
