When her home country of Canada hosted the 1988 Olympics in Calgary, four year old Kimiko Zakreski was captivated and inspired. At age 12, she learned to snowboard at Canada Olympic Park and set a goal to medal in the Olympics. By 2000, Kimiko was competing at the international level. She is a three time NorAm gold medalist and has a bronze and silver at the World Cup level. Kimiko was thrilled to compete in the Women's Parallel Giant Slalom snowboard competition at the 2010 Olympics in her home country. Her favorite quote is "Fortune favors the brave", a good motto for one who races GS.
