Tread Of Pioneers Museum Board of Directors Acknowledgment of Responsibilities

Board members have an overall responsibility for the governance and financial well being of the Museum. They are expected to be effective leaders in terms of visionary planning, delegation, and implementation of Board assignments. The Board is responsible for developing long range plans and setting overall organizational goals. They are also responsible for supervision of the Executive Director, and will empower him/her to oversee daily operations.

As part of my Board responsibilities I will:
-Read and understand the Tread of Pioneers Museum Board Manual.
-Attend and participate in 2/3 of the monthly meetings that are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 5:30 pm.
-Attend the annual Board retreat.
-Stay informed about Board issues and prepare for meetings prior to arrival.
-Stay informed about the Museumís activities so that I can promote programs and fund raisers though out the community.
-Serve on at least one committee by attending their regular meetings and participating in special events and programs associated with those committees (Governance, Finance, Fundraising, or Executive).
-Be a member of the museum.
-Make a personal financial contribution in Annual Fund raising solicitation.
-Participate in fund-raising activities.
-Recruit new board members.
-Oversee the financial operation of the Museum.
-Prepare a Strategic Plan to guide the organization in a direction that is consistent with the mission statement.
-Maintain appropriate confidentiality concerning Museum financial activities and business matters.
-Interpret the Museumís work and value to the community, be a representative of the Museum, and act as an ambassador for the Museum.
