Brief Biography:
Carmichael moved to Steamboat at the age of 12 and skied with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club from the age of 14 on. Carmichael is said to be Colorado's most decorated skier in its history. While in the World Cup mogul circuit for 9 years he won the overall title twice and claimed a dozen victories. Carmichael is Colorado's first Olympic Moguls medalist, taking the bronze at the 1992 Olympics. He has also won six national titles and in twenty years of competing, he has never missed a competition due to injury or illness. In 1999 he founded a ski and snowboard soft goods company called 1080 Degrees. He still resides in Steamboat during the winter months. When he is in Steamboat he offers free mogul skiing clinics, and works as an ambassador for the ski resort. Carmichael says, "Steamboat has such a unique combination of training programs, world class skiing, and a wonderful sense of community, that it's inevitable for this area to produce so many great skiers."
